MINISTERS IN CHARGE OF WATER AFFAIRS CALL FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

At the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Conference of Ministers in Charge of Water held in Istanbul, a call was made for international cooperation to prevent waterborne diseases and to provide clean and adequate drinking water to all.At the 5th World Water Forum held in Istanbul in 2009, it was agreed that a summit at the level of heads of state and government would convene every two years. It was in this context that the third Conference of Ministers in Charge of Water of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation was held in Istanbul in May 17th-19th 2016. At the conference, calls were made for the prevention of waterborne diseases and for international cooperation over the provision of clean and adequate drinking water and sanitation for all in keeping with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the efficient use of water, waste water purification and reuse and the proliferation of innovative methods such as desalination and water harvesting.By Tümay BerkinYou can read the rest of the article on our issue of June
