Mustafa AY – TDO – 13.02.2018 On Monday, the former President of Georgia and Governor of Odessa Mikhail Saakashvili was detained by unknown people wearing camouflages and masks at a restaurant in Kiev. He’s been heading the mainstream opposition party Ukraine’s Movement of New Forces since its establishment in 2016. The main agenda of Saakashvili’s party was to demonstrate against Ukrainian President Petro Poroşenko whom Saakashvili accused of corruption. Therefore, Saakashvili displayed his utmost endeavor to compel Poroşenko to resign from the office, but failed.

Because of his initiative on forcing Poroşenko out of office, he was exposed to the deprivation of citizenship by Ukrainian authorities when he was abroad. In 2017’s September, Saakashvili returned to Ukraine so that he could proceed with his campaign against Poroşenko. Since then, he’s confronted with many bullying from Ukrainian authorities. On Monday, Mikhail Saakashvili encountered a harsh detainment by a bunch of unknown people. That Ukrainian officials may have conducted a covert operation against Saakashvili sounds possible because his unremitting demonstrations against Ukrainian President may have given no option, but a covert operation. At the end of the day, Mikhail Saakashvili was deported to Poland by Ukrainian Border Service. Ukrainian officials released a statement referring to “in compliance with all legal procedures, he was returned to Poland. He was on Ukraine illegally.”
