Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Faced with the third wave of new coronavirus (Covid-19), some German states have called for an extension of measures implemented to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ahead of a meeting with state government representatives and Chancellor Angela Merkel on March 22nd, many local officials want an extension of the isolation imposed against the British variant of Covid-19.

Chancellor Merkel also wants the measures in force to be extended until at least April, according to some German media reports.

Susanne Johna, president of the German Medical Association, said in a statement that a more critical situation is expected at the beginning of April when easter will be celebrated and that it would be irresponsible to loosen the measures in the third wave.
