Serhat TUNAR -TDO- German Chancellor Angela Merkel made the remarks at a press conference at the end of the second day at the European Union leaders ' summit. Merkel announced that the European Union and Turkey will discuss visa liberalization next December.
Merkel, who said that it is important to have a constructive dialogue on Turkey, said: "We want a positive agenda with Turkey. I have talked very often with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently. In relations, it will be in the interest of both sides to pursue a positive agenda. The issue of visa liberalization will be discussed in December."
Angela Merkel, who also reminded that Turkey is a neighbor of the European Union and a member of NATO, said that the issue of visa liberalization should be firmly worked out by December. Merkel also added that they want to discuss with Turkey the issues of bringing the migration agreement between Turkey and the European Union to a new stage, the development of a customs union agreement and economic cooperation.
