Germany, which announced that it would send medical support to Portugal after about 70 percent of health workers in Portugal contracted the disease and beds in intensive care services were full, has reached this country.
Germany's aid plane, sent as part of the fight against the new Coronavirus outbreak, has 8 doctors, 18 nurses, 50 respirators and 150 beds. It was announced that the plane had landed in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.
The German team will manage a new intensive care unit at a private hospital in Lisbon, which is equipped but not operational due to inadequate staffing, Portuguese Health Minister Marta Temido said. “The help that Germany offers will be very useful for a health system that faces challenges like ours, " Temido said in a statement.”
