MACRON: WE HAVE SET OUT A COMMON PLAN TO REDUCE TENSIONS IN THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN

Serhat TUNAR -TDO- French President Emmanuel Macron, who hosted the MED7 leaders summit on the island of Corsica, said 7 European Union member Mediterranean countries wanted to restart a bona fide dialogue with Turkey.

Macron said that on the Eastern Mediterranean, European Union member states have set out a common plan to respect their sovereignty and international law and reduce tensions.

In a joint press conference after the summit, Macron, who also reacted to Turkey and Russia, said: "today in the Mediterranean, there are conflicts from Syria to Libya. This is a game of hegemony by historical forces trying to destabilize the entire region. The role of Turkey and Russia in this issue worries us."
