Selin ATAY-TDO- French President Emmanuel Macron has promised university students to accelerate a return to face-to-face education and to eat two meals a day in exchange for one Euro. "Despite the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases, I want to accelerate the timetable for the resumption of face-to-face training one day a week," the French President said. Macron also announced that students would be given psychological counseling support.
In his speech, French President Macron promised that in campus restaurants, everyone could eat two meals a day for one Euro, just like scholarship students. Under normal circumstances, students receive meals on university campuses, paying about € 3.30. Only students with scholarships pay low fees for canteen meals.
Psychological support "will allow all young people in need to have much easier access to and treatment of a professional, psychologist or psychiatrist," the French President said. "All students who wish can receive psychological support from February 1," the Elysée Palace said.
Universities have been closed to education since 30 October due to measures taken under Covid-19 measures in France.
The Union of French Student Federations (UNEF) and some other youth organizations held a demonstration in Paris the day before the French President's announcement to protest the closure of educational institutions and the failure to announce the opening dates of universities due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
