Mustafa AY – TDO – 16.10.2017 Chancellor Angela Merkel –leader of Christian Democrats (CDU) – was defeated in local election in Lower Saxony by German Social Democrats (SDP). According to a German private research organization, SDP leads the election in the region by 37.5%, which is 5% more in comparison to 2013 election result of SDP.
Merkel’s CDU has obtained 35%, 2.5% behind SDP in Lower Saxony. Remaining parties following the second CDU are the Greens with 8.5% in third place, Free Democrats with 7%, and finally Alternative for Germany with 5.5%. Results appear to be disturbing for Chancellor while she is conducting coalition talks. Because her party with herself is gradually going down because of the fact that fragmented EU, immigration policy and Middle East policy are embarrassing in the eyes of CDU-constituent.
