Selin ATAY-TDO- Lebanon’s President Mikhail Aun again called for United States to be involved in the dispute settlement process as a mediator in the Lebanon-Israel border dispute.
US Undersecretary of State for Near Eastern Relations David Schenker held talks with Aun at the Baabda Presidential Palace in Beirut, the Lebanese capital.
Aun said the talks had made progress with the mediation of the US in the process of resolving the land and sea borders dispute between Israel and his country, and said he wants the US to continue its contributions.
President Aun also spoke of the tensions between Israel and Hezbollah. It accused Israel of failing to adhere to a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution and violating Lebanon's sovereignty by land, sea and air.
Lebanon and Israel are at odds over 860km of continental shelf between them. Both countries claim sovereignty on the continental shelf of this region.
