05/07/2021

Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- The Association of Drug Importers said that Lebanon, which has been hit by a major financial crisis, is severely short of medicines and that there are significant problems in the health sector, especially due to the lack of access to vital imported medicines.

The association announced last month that they were unable to import any foreign medicines due to foreign currency shortages.

The association warned that the stocks in the drug stores had completely run out of medicines used for significant diseases, while the shipment of necessary medicines abroad had stopped because they could not find foreign currency.

The association's statement noted that importers have almost completely stopped importing for more than a month due to debts of more than $600 million accumulated against drugmakers and pre-transaction approval by the Central Bank.
