Selin ATAY-TDO- The 5 leading member states of the European Union (EU); France, Germany, Italy, Britain and Spain made a common statement on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s promise to annex Jordan Valley, located in the occupied West Bank.
The 5 countries are deeply concerned by Netanyahu’s statement on the possible annexation of the West Bank, particularly the Jordan Valley, and the northern coast od the Dead Sea, according to joint statement. It is stated that Netanyahu would seriously violate international law if he carried out his promise.
The five countries renewed their request from Israel and Pakistan that they should act in the accordance with international law and they refrain from acts that complicate the two-state solution. “France, Germany, Italy, Britain and Spain recognize Israel's right of security and strongly condemn the recent attacks on Israel from Gaza.” said in the joint statement.
