Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Democrat Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump to become the 46th president of the United States on Saturday.

Democratic candidate Joe Biden came from the back and beat his opponent Donald Trump by nearly 35,000 more vote.

Donald Trump with a total of 214 delegates: Tennessee (11 delegates), Iowa (6 delegates), Mississippi (6 delegates), Idaho (4 delegates), Oklahoma (7 delegates), Nebraska (5 delegates), Alabama (9 delegates), Kentucky (8 delegates), West Virginia (5 delegates), South Carolina (9 delegates), Ohio (18 delegates), Arkansas (6 delegates), Indiana (11 delegates), Texas (39 delegates), Wyoming (3 delegates), North Dakota (3 delegates), South Dakota (3 delegates) ,Louisiana (8 delegates), Kansas (6 delegates), Missouri (10 delegates), Utah (6 delegates), Montana (3 delegates), Florida (29 delegates), Maine (1 delegate) received votes from the states.

Joe Biden with a total of 290 delegates: Washington D.C (3 delegates), Vermont (3 delegates), Virginia (13 delegates), Connecticut (7 delegates), California (55 delegates), New Jersey (14 delegates), Delaware (3 delegates), Maryland (10 delegates), Illinois (20 delegates), Hampshire (4 delegates), Rhode Island (4 delegates), Wisconsin (10 delegates), New York (29 delegates), New Mexico (5 delegates), Colorado (9 delegates), Oregon (7 delegates), Washington (12 delegates) ,New Minnesota (10 delegates), Arizona (11 delegates), Maine (3 delegates), Michigan (16 delegates) Pennsylvania (20 delegates) Massachusetts (11 delegates), Nevada (6 delegates) received votes from the states.

Joe Biden posted on his Twitter account, "America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country.The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans - whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me."

"The Bible tells us that to everything there is a season - a time to build, a time to reap, a time to sow. And a time to heal. This is the time to heal in America." Biden said.

Biden said in a statement, “I am honored and humbled by the trust the American people have placed in me and in Vice President-elect Harris. In the face of unprecedented obstacles, a record number of Americans voted. Proving once again, that democracy beats deep in the heart of America.”

Kamala Harris, who had the status of the first female Vice President of the United States after Joe Biden was elected President of the United States, posted on her social media account, "We did it, Joe, you're the next president of the United States." she said.

Minutes before the results were announced, Donald Trump's post which stated that he had won, was blocked by Twitter.
