Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Speaking at the French Senate Foreign Affairs Commission, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said France did not support any side in the Libyan civil war, and said they had met with all the actors in Libya.
In his speech, Le Drian said claims that France took sides were not true, adding: "I hear a lot of things that France chose the side of Marshal Hafter. Some things need to be clarified. The Libyan National Army, under Field Marshal Hafter, fought against the jihadist group ISIS, which is spreading in Libya, before attempting to take Tripoli in April 2019."
France's Foreign Minister said there had been a shift in the Libyan National Army, adding: "We are supporting forces linked to Hafter in their fight against ISIS. But that support is more about proposals and political support than very active military assistance."
