JAPAN TO GIVE $19 MILLION GRANT AID TO SUPPORT MYANMAR'S ROHINGYA

Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Japan's government will provide $19 million in emergency aid to Arakanese Muslim (Rohingya) refugees through international organizations to meet their food and health needs.

Japan's Foreign Ministry said it would provide financial support to Arakanese Muslims fleeing oppression and persecution in Myanmar's Arakan province.

In this context, Japan will donate $19 million in emergency aid to Arakanese Muslims through the International Committee of the Red Cross the World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The grant will supply medical and medical equipment to 58 hospitals and health facilities in Myanmar and Bangladesh, and food aid to 600,000 people in the two countries.
