Mustafa AY – TDO – 25.12.2017 On Sunday, Italian PM Paolo Gentiloni issued a proposal to be presented to the parliament. The context of the proposal encompasses the question about what to do with Italian troops in Iraq, after they accomplished its mission assisting Iraqi army in purging DEAS from Iraqi soils. As of today, Italy keeps its 1400 soldiers in Iraq, but Italian troops stay in passive condition.
Italian PM Paolo Gentiloni made a statement about his plan for Italian troops in Iraq. He said “Italy has to continue working, dedicating its energy to eradicating human smuggling and slavery in Niger”. Following this statement, some of 1400 Italian troops in Iraq will be transferred to Niger, Gentiloni added. However, to be able to commission Italian troops in Iraq to Niger, the proposal PM Gentiloni presented to parliament ought to be passed with simple majority.
