Selin ATAY-TDO- In Italy, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte resigned after a government crisis caused by the collapse of the four-way coalition.
Giuseppe Conte had lost his majority in the upper wing of the Senate last week when the Centre Viva Party, led by the country's former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, quit the coalition. The Viva party had been critical of the government's handling of the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) and the economic recession.
On Tuesday January 26, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte convened his cabinet at the Prime Minister's office and announced that he would resign. As he left, the prime minister thanked his ministers for their service. After the cabinet, Giuseppe Conte went to Quirinale, the presidential palace and handed the resignation of his government to President Sergio Mattarella.
Mattarella has received the resignation of Giuseppe Conte and will begin consultations with political parties represented in Parliament on Wednesday, the presidency said in a statement.
