Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Israeli President Reuven Rivlin gave an additional 48 hours to Benny Gantz, the leader of the Blue-and-white Alliance, who was unable to form a coalition government within the time given to him constitutionally.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz held a late-night meeting, according to officials from the blue-and-white Alliance. At the meeting, Netanyahu and Gantz said there had been great progress in coalition negotiations and they could announce a government today.
The Israeli public broadcaster reported that President Rivlin responded positively to Netanyahu and Gantz's request for additional time jointly.
Accordingly, Rivlin gave Gantz an additional 48 hours to form the coalition.
