Selin ATAY -TDO- Occupying forces surrounded the Palestinian Medical Complex, located in Ramallah, searched the rooms and fired bullets to intimidate citizens, patients and medical staff. A rubber bullet hit a pregnant woman in the shoulder and an ambulance officer in the hand, the Health Ministry said.
The Palestinian government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the “barbaric” attack, calling it a “flagrant violation” of international law and international humanitarian law. It also stated that under the Geneva Conventions it is a “crime against humanity” that international law must deal with.
The ministry said in a statement that the occupation was a systematic dangerous attack on the Palestinian people, their land and their property, and held directly entirely the Israeli government responsible for this crime. The ministry also stressed that there should be no punishment for this aggression, especially against hospitals and health centers, where there is a Coronavirus outbreak. In a statement, the ministry said: “international silence in the face of this crime is unacceptable and has no excuse. On the contrary, it encourages the occupying power to continue to commit further violations and crimes against our people,” the statement said.
A wide range of detentions have been launched by the Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, allegedly to deter Palestinians from armed operations against Israeli targets.
Israeli occupation forces raided the Palestinian Medical Complex around 04:30 a.m., Using Firearms and pepper spray, Palestinian Health Minister May al-Kile said in a statement. There were also cases of suffocation and panic among patients, mainly children, and an ambulance vehicle belonging to the facility was damaged. Minister Dr. Kile said the situation was more severe in the department where Covid-19 patients were treated, and their lives were in danger because of pepper spray.
