Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Iranian rap artist Amir Tataloo, wanted by Interpol in Red, has been detained in Istanbul. The artist, who has a large fan base in Iran, is said to be wanted on charges of inciting drug use.
The rapper, whose real name is Emir Huseyin Maksudlu and who uses the stage name Amir Tataloo, was placed under police control in Fatih, Istanbul and at passport control, the decision was made by Interpol to search for the artist through a Red Bulletin.
Tataloo, who entered Turkey on July 20, 2019 and is understood to have violated his visa period, was detained and taken to safety. Following the proceedings, the artist was sent to the Directorate of the provincial Immigration Administration.
While no comment has yet been made from Interpol on the matter, artist Tataloo shared an image of himself handcuffed on his social media account. Tatalou's fans shared 'release Amir Tataloo' on social media.
Tataloo has 2.5 million followers on Instagram. The artist, who is very popular in Iran, often uses words about drug use in his songs, prompting a backlash from some in his country.
