Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Iranian supreme leader Ali Ayatollah Khamenei became the first dose of COVIran Bereket, the local vaccine developed by his country against the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) live on air.
The Tehran government began developing COVIran Bereket in 2020.
The first tests of the vaccine were conducted in December.
Khamenei had previously stated that he was not interested in Covid-19 vaccines developed by foreign countries and that despite all the insistence, he was waiting for the vaccine developed by Iranian scientists to be his first dose.
"I waited for Iran's local vaccine. We should be proud of this achievement as a country."
