Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Iranian head of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission Mahmoud Vaezi said on Tuesday that Iran and Russia have prioritized all-out expansion of cooperation and ties, especially on provincial basis.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with IRNA, Vaezi said Iran-Russia relations will expand in various dimensions and this strategy was adopted and emphasized in meetings of Iranian and Russian presidents in the past three years.
Vaezi said so far, many documents have been signed to that effect and it is now the time for their enforcement so that the private sectors of the two countries could launch more extensive commercial and economic activities with more confidence.
He said the outcome of the agreement reached in the fall session of the joint commission exceeds expansion of relations between the capitals and the two sides agreed on expansion of cooperation, especially in economic, investment and commercial domains, between their provinces.
Referring to talks with Astrakhan officials in the presence of Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaie, Vaezi said the goal of the current round of Astrakhan talks is to reach the pre-defined goals.
He said both countries are serious to open up a shipping line and officially inaugurate the first Tehran-Astrakhan air link, indicating that their leaders are strongly determined to provide necessary facilities in that connection.
The first official Tehran-Astrakhan flight landed in Astrakhan airport on Tuesday morning.
The Iranian minister said removal of impediments on the way of expansion of Tehran-Moscow economic and commercial cooperation was another reason for continued talks of Iranian delegation in Moscow. He hoped that in the near future, besides growth of the tourism industry in Iran and Russia, especially with Russian Astrakhan province will give way to promotion of exports to entire Russia.
The Iranian delegation held talks with Astrakhan officials at a time when a 45-member Russian delegation held many meetings in their four-day Iran stay last week with officials of Iranian Mazandaran province and took part in the meeting of expansion of bilateral economic cooperation in Tehran.
