Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced that he had dismissed Central Bank President Abdolnaser Hemmati, who will run in the presidential election on June 18th.
Hemmati said in a statement that he accepted the decision that he must be terminated from his position at the bank to become President.
In other news, the Constitutional Protection Council rejected several nominations during the election process.
Technocrat Hemmati, who was appointed governor of the Central Bank in 2018, is one of the 7 presidential candidates.
Iranian media shared information about several possible candidates to replace Hemmati, including the bank's Vice President Akbar Komeijani and The Deputy Head of the Budget and Planning Agency, Hamid Pourmohammadi.
