Selin ATAY-TDO- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has indicated that Joe Biden's administration is inclined to return to the nuclear deal and has called on The Washington administration to lift sanctions.
Rouhani and Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammad bin Abdurrahman Al Sani had met, the Iranian Presidency said. During the meeting, Rouhani made a statement about the nuclear deal and the lifting of sanctions.
The Iranian President noted that "Trumpism" is over in the United States and that the new administration tends to return to the nuclear deal by pursuing a different policy. "It has become clear to the whole world that the policy of maximum pressure has failed. The new administration in the United States has no choice but to make amends for the wrongs of the previous government and return to its legal commitments," Rouhani said.
According to the statement issued by Iranian Presidency, the Iranian President called on the Joe Biden administration to lift sanctions and return to United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2231. "As soon as the United States lifts sanctions and returns to the law, Iran will return to its commitments in the nuclear deal in no time," Rouhani said.
