Selin ATAY-TDO- Saeed Khatibzadeh, spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry, told the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) that Qatar called for "dialogue between Arab countries in the Persian Gulf and Iran" and discussed the issues on the agenda.
In his speech at the agency, Khatibzadeh pointed out that Saudi Arabia has made positive changes in its policy towards some countries in the Gulf. "If these policy changes are seriously on their agenda and the Saudis conclude that regional cooperation is the way to solve the problems, Iran will be the first country to welcome this situation," the ministry spokesman said.
"The Saudis may have some concerns, and we emphasize that these issues need to be discussed," Khatibzadeh said, noting that they are ready for negotiations to resolve the problems between the two countries. The Hormuz peace initiative included discussing these issues," Saeed Khatibzadeh said.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman reminded that his country has presented the Hormuz Peace Initiative for regional peace and stressed that Gulf countries must develop a common understanding of regional problems. "Unfortunately, what we have seen so far has been that some countries in the Persian Gulf, including Saudi Arabia, have left Iran's proposals unanswered on this issue," Saeed Khatibzadeh said in his speech.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman also said they were ready to exchange prisoners between the two countries during the term of US President Joe Biden.
