Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- The Regional Health Agency in Nantes, France, has announced an investigation to determine the cause of death of a 26-year-old medical student who received the AstraZeneca vaccine against the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19).

The student, who was found dead in his home last week, is known to have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine on March 8.

However, it is not yet known whether his death was caused by the vaccine.

Nantes Prosecutor Pierre Sennès said in a statement, "The forensic autopsy report found that the deceased had recently received the Covid-19 vaccine. Additional analyses were required to determine the cause of the student's death. We already have to wait for the results of the experts to determine the exact cause of death," he said.

On the other hand, "At this stage, there is no evidence that the vaccine is linked to death. This case of death will be the subject of an in-depth clinical trial by Regional Pharmacovigilance Centre (CRPV)," The National Health Agency said in a statement.

"My brother said he had abdominal pains before he died, but he was nothing serious, my brother was healthy," his brother told Ouest-France.
