Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- At least 44 people have died and 9 others injured by flooding caused by heavy rains east of Flores, East Nusa Tenggara province, Indonesia.
Raditya Jati, the spokesman for Indonesia National Agency for Disaster Management, said torrential rains in the area, which began at 11 a.m. local time, caused flooding.
Hundreds of homes were damaged after the flooding.
Search and rescue efforts are reportedly underway in the area.
Authorities have also warned of heavy rainfall in the country's Aceta, Sumatra, Central Java provinces, and in areas such as the capital Jakarta and Yogyakarta.
