By Adel Tayari-TDO- The US State Department exploded a big surprise in its annual report on terrorism, because of the information it contains about Saudi Arabia and the UAE, in the shadow of a Gulf crisis that has been going on for about two months. The US State Department said in its annual report on the state of terrorism in 2016 that the so-called "terrorist groups took advantage of the UAE as a financial center in its financial transactions, as that individuals and entities in Saudi Arabia "continued to finance terrorist groups".
The report, published by the ministry on its website, pointed out that "the financing of terrorist groups is in spite of the efforts of the Saudi authorities to combat terrorism."
On the other hand, the US State Department in its report praised the "partnership between Washington and Doha in the fight against terrorism," stressing that "US and Qatari security agencies have strong ties." The report also pointed out that Doha "supported the Islamic alliance led by Saudi Arabia to combat terrorism, and "provided support to US military operations in the region" in a clear violation of the accusations that the countries of the blockade of Qatar based on the fact that Doha supports terrorist groups. The report added that Qatar represents a "full partner in the international coalition against the organization of the state, and "made progress in the fight against terrorism and its financing”, but added that "financiers of terrorism are taking advantage of the informal financial system in Qatar.". This stance from the US State Department comes at a time when the Gulf crisis is continuing
after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut off diplomatic ties with Doha last month on charges of supporting terrorism, which Doha categorically denies.
