By Adel Tayari –TDO- (TUNUSIA) In a letter to Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir, Human Rights Watch called on Saudi authorities to "immediately clarify whether they had restricted the freedom of former Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef."

According to the New York Times, in a report published on June 28, 2017 by former and current US officials, the Saudi authorities subjected Mohammed bin Nayef to house arrest and prevented him from traveling after King Salman laid his son Mohammed bin Salman as crown prince in 21 June.

Human Rights Watch said it was necessary for the Saudi Foreign Ministry to clarify "whether the authorities have restricted Prince Mohammed bin Nayef's freedom of movement within Saudi Arabia, and also if he is prohibited from traveling, and if so, to clarify the legal basis for such Restrictions ".

The organization said in a statement that the Interior Ministry frequently violated Saudi law to impose a travel ban without court ruling.
