Hassam Hameed-TDO-25.01.2018- This Wednesday gunmen stormed into the office of ‘save the children’ in Jalalabad, at 09:10 local time. One people have been killed, around fourteen are wounded. A suicide bomber detonated a vehicle full of explosives at the main entrance and then the rest of the assailants used rocket-propelled grenade to storm further inside the compound.
Reports suggest at least three attackers have been involved this aggression. Yet no group has taken responsibility, and Taliban tweeted that were not behind the attack. This region is predominantly ISIS influenced, although Taliban has a massive presence there as well. "The fighting has ended. The security forces are clearing the building now. Our initial information shows so far, one dead and 14 wounded have been brought to hospitals," Nangarhar governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told AFP. The targeted agency is in the area occupied by other international NGOs and government offices.
Charity organizations have been frequently targeted in Afghanistan and work in very difficult conditions. After killing seven staff members of Red Cross in 2017, they are planning to have a drastic reduction in their presence in Afghanistan.
