GREECE, LIBYA AGREE TO RESTART TALKS ON MARITIME ZONES

Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Michotakis announced that Greece and Libya have agreed on talks on the determination of maritime zones in the Mediterranean.

Mohammed al-Menfi, president of the Libyan Presidential Council, said the Presidential Council does not have the authority to sign an international agreement with Greece.

Greek Prime Minister Michotakis made the remarks after; Presidential Council President Al-Menfi's meetings during his visit to Athens said they had expressed their desire for an "immediate" resumption of talks on the issue.

Referring to the Geneva Convention, al-Menfi stressed in his statement that it is not possible for the Presidential Council to reach any international agreements and that it is under the authority of the Government of National Accord.
