Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- Germany has announced it is lifting international general travel warnings for 80 countries, including Turkey, which it has declared "risky" due to the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The general travel warning for regions declared "risky" by Covid-19 has been lifted from July 1st for regions with 100,000 cases per week, the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Improving the epidemiological situation in Germany and much of Europe, the spread of vaccines and the introduction of the Digital Covid Certificate make travel easier. Therefore, travel warnings have also been updated from July 1st," the statement said.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas defended the lifting of travel warnings, saying, "Where there are positive developments, there is no reason to maintain restrictions."
