Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas blamed Hamas for tensions between Palestine and Israel in the Middle East.
"The Middle East is experiencing the worst violence in recent years," Foreign Minister Maas told the Federal Parliament.
Hamas was responsible for the violence, Maas said. "We strongly condemn these attacks. What happened in Masjid al-Aqsa does not justify the attacks. Israel has the right and duty to protect its people," he said.
Maas said they have proposed a three-stage plan to reduce tensions in the region.
Maas said in his statement that the plans were for Hamas to immediately stop 'missile terrorism', a ceasefire agreement, and direct talks between Israelis and Palestinians without addressing complex causes of the conflict.
