Serhat TUNAR -TDO- For the first time, same-sex couples have married in a mass military wedding ceremony in Taiwan.
Taiwan's military held the ceremony on Friday (yesterday), where two female soldiers and their civilian partners will be married. The ceremony was held the day before the Taiwan March of Honor.
“This is proof that LGBTI individuals can have equal rights and defend their country like everyone else,“ said a spokesman for the group, which works on LGBTI awareness in the Taiwanese military.”
Same-sex marriage was legalized in the country last year. Taiwan became the first Asian country where same-sex marriage was legal.
