Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- At the G-7 Summit in the UK, the issue of 'Northern Ireland' between the European Union (EU) and the London government after Brexit caused controversy.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson discussed the dispute over the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, and EU Commission President Von der Leyen as part of the G-7 Summit, the Prime Minister's Office said.
Johnson said the UK would "do whatever is necessary" to protect its territorial integrity in a trade dispute with the EU and would take emergency measures if no solution was found.
"Both sides should implement what we agreed on," European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen said in a statement.
Macron warned Johnson and told him that the British government must deliver on its promises on the Brexit Deal, the Elysee Palace said in a statement.
"Macron strongly stressed that this re-engagement requires the British to fulfill their commitment to the Europeans and the framework defined by the Brexit Agreement," the statement said.
