Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- In the final statement of the G-7 Summit in Britain, the leaders urged China to respect human rights in Hong Kong and the Xinjiang region, where the Uighur minority lives.

The statement criticized China's economic policy, saying it would "continue to consult on collective approaches to challenge out-of-market policies and practices that undermine the fair and transparent functioning of the global economy."

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said there was a "great rapport" among G-7 leaders "to help the world's poorest countries improve themselves in some way" and that they aimed to show the rest of the world the value of democracy and human rights.

United States President Joe Biden said at the summit that he was "extraordinarily cooperative and productive", adding that the leaders were united in their efforts to recover globally in the wake of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
