İrem UZUN -TDO- One person has died after a man stabbed passers-by in a Paris suburb on Friday afternoon, French police said. At least two other people are injured, including one severely; AFP reported the suspect was killed by police shots in Hay-les-Roses, a neighboring town. The attack happened in the Hautes-Bruyeres Park in Villejuif, to the south of the French capital, reported AFP, quoting police authorities. France's interior minister, Laurent Nunez, went to the scene of the attack on Friday.
The attack happened in the town of Villejuif, about 8 km south of central Paris. The attacker died shortly after he was shot. Police have not yet commented on a possible motive for the attack. Police union official Yves Lefebvre said officers fired repeatedly because they feared the man was wearing an explosive belt and might blow himself up. Police cordoned off the area, and ambulances and police vehicles lined a road approaching the park. The two injured victims are being treated in nearby hospitals, Laure Beccuau, the prosecutor whose office is handling the case, told reporters.
