Mustafa AY – TDO – 22.01.2018 After French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian finished phone call with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, he requested UNSC urgent session for discussing Turkish Armed Forces’ ‘Operation Oil Branch’ in Afrin. On Saturday, Turkish Armed Forces commenced the military operation against US-backed YPG-PYD terrorist organization stationed in Afrin. Firstly, Turkish fighter jets bombarded YPG-PYD’s observation posts and logistically considerable positions, and then Turkish-backed FSA commenced its ground attack on the terrorist groups in Afrin. Besides, Turkish F-16s bombarded military airport in Afrin so as to cut off future prospective logistic support to YPG-PYD from outside Afrin. In addition to ‘Operation Oil Branch’, France demanded this urgent UNSC session for Asad Regime’s persecution against civilians in Homs in December 2017. Asad Regime’s ground forces with air support led a huge civilian murders in Eastern Ghouta in Homs. According to the reports, Asad Regime’s siege on Eastern Ghouta caused the emergence of at least 85 civilian deaths.
