Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- After the decrease in the number of cases in the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in France, it was announced that from June 17th, the obligation to wear masks in open areas except in some cases and the night-time curfew from June 20th will be lifted.

Prime Minister Jean Castex told a press conference after the Council of Ministers meeting that the average number of daily cases over the past 7 days had fallen to 3,200.

Castex said there are no pandemic concerns in any part of France, adding that more than 30 million people have been given the first dose of the vaccine so far.

"The pandemic situation in the country is improving faster than we had hoped," Castex said.

Castex stated that the mask requirement will be removed from June 17th in crowded situations and in open areas outside stadiums and markets and that masks should continue to be worn indoors.

Castex said the curfew imposed between 23.00-06.00 will also be lifted on June 20 instead of June 30.
