Serhat TUNAR -TDO- Former Prime Ministers Ahmed Uyahya and Abdulmalik Sellal, who were jailed as part of a corruption investigation into former Algerian President Abdulaziz Bouteflika, have been jailed.
The court in Algeria announced the final verdict in the case known publicly as the 'Muhyiddin fortification trial' and 'corruption in the financing of Bouteflika's election campaign'. According to the verdict, Uyahya was sentenced to 15 years in prison and Sellal to 12 years.
The court reduced the sentence of former industry ministers Yusuf Yusufi, who was tried in the same case, to 3 years and the sentence of Mahcub Bidde to one year. However, the court ruled that former Tourism Minister Yamine Zerhuni was acquitted after she had previously been sentenced to two years in prison.
