Görkem ŞEKEROĞLU -TDO- Former French President Valery Giscard d'Estaing died on Wednesday (2 Dec) at age 94, due to complications arising from coronavirus.
Giscard d'Estaing, who was President of France from 1974 to 1981, died surrounded by his family at the family home in the Loire region, a French news agency reported. He had recently been hospitalized due to heart problems.
President Emmanuel Macron paid tribute to the late President, saying Giscard d'Estaing's seven-year term had "transformed France."
Macron described Giscard d'Estaing as "a servant of the state, a politician of progress and freedom."
