Serhat TUNAR -TDO- In Norway, for the first time after a century, excavations were initiated to unearth a Viking-era ship. Last year, The Remains of a Vikings ship were discovered near the Norwegian - Swedish border. The excavation work for the vessel, which was said to be only 50 centimeters below the ground and 20 meters long, was started during radar examinations.
The last similar excavation in Norway, where there are only 3 Viking ships preserved to this day, was in 1904. The recently discovered vessel, the Gjellestad, is in poor condition, archaeologists say, and wants to reach the remains in no time.
