Serhat TUNAR –TDO- As a result of the voting, the European Parliament recognized Juan Guaido as the interim president of Venezuela.
The European Parliament exchanged ideas on Wednesday about the political disagreement in the South American country at a session of which topic was "Developments in Venezuela".
On Thursday, EU lawmakers voted 429 in favor to 104 against, with 88 abstentions, at a special session in Brussels to recognize Venezuelan congress head Guaido as interim leader.
The European Parliament said in a statement targeting to the existing administration in Venezuela that human rights violations should be terminated as soon as possible.
Recently, Venezuelan Parliament Speaker Juan Guaido has declared himself "interim president" at a rally organized by the opposition, and has been recognized as interim president of the Venezuela by many countries such as United States, Australia, Canada, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Paraguay, Brazil, Chile, Panama, Argentina, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
Following these developments, Venezuela President Maduro announced that he cut the diplomatic and political relations with the United States.
