Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- The European Union (EU) has signed the world's largest vaccine supply deal with the company, Pfizer-Biontech's vaccine against the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The EU will buy 1.8 billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine by 2023.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday that they aim to have 70% of the adult population in EU countries vaccinated against Covid-19 by July.
More than 150 million doses of vaccines have been sent to EU countries, von der Leyen said, announcing that 123 million doses of the vaccine have been administered.
"I believe that with the tremendous efforts of BioNTech-Pfizer and accelerating its deliveries, we will have enough doses to vaccinate 70 percent of the adult population in the EU in July," von der Leyen said, noting that the most commonly used vaccine in the EU is the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine.
