Aslıhan DOĞRU -TDO- The European Union (EU) has filed a second lawsuit against pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca over delays in supplying vaccines developed against the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19).
EU Commission Spokesman Stefan de Keersmaecker announced at a daily press conference that they have launched a new legal process against AstraZeneca.
Keersmaecker said the purpose of the lawsuit was to determine whether the EU's "rightful" vaccines had been breached.
Keersmaecker stressed that AstraZeneca urgently needs to supply 90 million additional doses of vaccines.
Keersmaecker announced that AstraZeneca had not complied with the terms and conditions of its pre-contract and had submitted its own reasons to the court.
Keersmaecker said the company could be fined to ensure the delivery takes place.
