European Union Council President Charles Michel and European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hold a press conference following the European Union leaders ' summit on the budget in Brussels.
Michel stated that more time was needed to reach a compromise on the budget, that negotiating the budget was a difficult issue, and that they were unable to reach an agreement on the European Union Budget.
"It is not easy to reconcile those who have different concerns, different interests, different views at the table," he said, recalling the need to work together for the European project. We will continue our work to secure an agreement."
Von der Leyen said in a statement: "We have had long negotiations with the leaders. We will continue to work. We have a long way to go to get results."
