Serhat TUNAR -TDO- At the European Union summit, which began on Thursday in Brussels, Belarus agreed on sanctions. The European Union was unable to implement the sanctions it had decided to impose on Belarusian leaders due to the Greek Cypriot veto.

European Union Council President Charles Michel said in a statement on the issue that they had decided to impose sanctions on the Belarusian rulers on the grounds that the elections held on August 9 were not fair and free and that the elections were rigged.

About 40 people are on the sanctions list, Michel said, adding that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is not among them, and technical preparations for sanctions will be made soon.
