Selin ATAY-TDO-U.S. sanctions must be lifted and the country's economic situation improved in order to implement plans and programs to end air pollution in major cities, especially the capital, Tehran, Iranian Parliament members say.
"We have passed laws on clean air from the parliament, but their implementation is constantly delayed," said Tabesh, head of the Environmental Protection Group in Iran's Parliament. “With sanctions lifted, we will be able to produce and import hybrid cars. I think we can implement the plan on air pollution in the next stage after the sanctions, " he said.
Tabesh said that if the law passed by parliament is implemented, many of the current problems will be eliminated, but the country's economic infrastructure and the people's economic power do not allow it.
Stating that Tehran has the capacity to lift 3 million people, but houses 12 million people by day and 10 million by night, he said “Tehran has more than capacity to accommodate the population. Due to the buildings on the sides of the wind, circulation is not provided and the polluted air remains inside the city as it is."
Mohammad Reza Mansuri, a deputy from the central province, said: "Good progress can be achieved through the synergy that will emerge with the cooperation of Turkey and Iran. Each country can complement each other by producing in separate areas. Thanks to cooperation with Turkey and technological gains, the air pollution problem in Iran can be solved."
