News Center -TDO- A reception was held at the embassy residence for the birthday of emperor Naruhito of Japan, hosted by Japan's Ambassador to Turkey Akio Miyajima.
The reception was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Faruk Kaymakçı, Deputy Minister of National Defense Alpaslan Kavaklıoğlu, Governor of Ankara Vasip Sahin, Mayor of Ankara Mansur Yavaş, representatives of the mission in Ankara, academics and invited guests.
Ambassador Miyajima, who gave the keynote address, thanked those attending the invitation. Ambassador Miyajima said: "on one may last year in Japan, Crown Prince Baruhito's Majesty ascended the throne and the thirty-year period of 'Heisei' ended and the period of 'Reiwa' began. I wish His Majesty the Emperor well-being on 23 February when he turned 60. We will celebrate the centennial anniversary of the beginning of Japan - Turkey diplomatic relations” said Ambassador Miyajima, noting that Japan and Turkey are historically friendly and strategic partners. Mr Ambassador also said: “This year is the 130th anniversary of the 'Ertuğrul Frigate' accident, which occurred in 1890 and is the cornerstone of the Japan - Turkey friendship. Turkey and Japan are geographically distant, but our hearts are close. In other words, two states are one heart.”
Recalling that the mutual relations between the two countries moved to the level of strategic partnership in 2013, Kaymakçı said: "We continue to achieve the common goal of reaching new heights in our trust-based, multidimensional relations with Japan."
Deputy Minister Kaymakçı, with the ‘Asia-Anew' initiative, bilateral relations with Japan and the regional cooperation to further levels of importance to move stressed.
A variety of Japanese dishes including sushi, tempura and Japanese rice wine sake were served at the reception.
