Serhat TUNAR -TDO- French President Emmanuel Macron visited Beirut, where the blast killed 145 people and injured thousands.

During a visit to the port area where the explosion took place, Macron, along with Lebanese President Michel Aoun, said Lebanon should be given unconditional priority as soon as possible.

Macron also said an independent and transparent investigation was needed into last Tuesday's explosion, saying it was a debt to the families of the victims who died in the blast.

During Macron's visit to the wreckage site, a group gathered in the area to protest against the government.
