Egypt has always been important in American foreign policy. From 50’s to 70’s, under the leadership of Gamal Abdel Nasser, Egypt was the leader of Pan-Arabism and anti-Zionist movements in the region. After the defeatin the Six Days War in 1967, Egypt forced to change its policy towards Israel and the West. Under the rule of Anvar Sadat, the creator of ‘’Egypt First’’ policy that regards Pan-Arabism and prioritize state benefits, Egypt recognized Israel as a state and tried to have ‘’good’’ relations with both Israel and USA. Following the Arab Spring and the fall of Hosni Mobarak, Mohammed Morsi, the representative of the Muslim Brotherhood which has been determined as a threat to Western benefits, became the first democratically elected president of the country. Later, he was forced to resign by the coup d’état, leaded by Sisi.Bilateral relations between USA and Egypt have been improving since the change of power in Egypt.
